5.2 Marks

A node in Bunao can be marked. A marked node is simply tagged (internally) with a number from 1 to 9. A node may have more than one mark at a time.

There are two reasons to use marks: 1) to highlight a particular node so that it is easily identified in the tree window or 2) to label a set of nodes so that an external program like bguts (see section The bguts program) can manipulate them.

In Bunao, marked nodes can be displayed in different fonts and colors. By default, Bunao defines Mark 1 to be bold style in red color, and Mark 2 to be italic style. These can be adjusted by modifying resources in the `~/.bunao' file (see section The `~/.bunao' file). When a node has more than one mark, the node is displayed with a combination. For example, a node marked both 1 and 2 will display in red bold italic.

The Structure menu (see section Structure Menu) has the command Toggle Mark and Toggle Mark 2 to toggle Mark 1 and 2, respectively, on the current node. The command Unmark provides a quick way to remove many marks at once.
